How to Help AIDS / HIV victims in Cambodia
The Asian country of Cambodia has one of the highest HIV and AIDS rates in the world. The women and children of this country are particularly vulnerable to this epidemic. The next paragraph lists some of the horrifying statistics from this country.
Close to 50% of people who contract the disease are women who are unaware that their husbands possess the virus. There is little to no information available about the disease to the people who live in remote communities. Countrywide, if people are infected then they will find it virtually impossible to avail of any treatment. The number of orphans in Cambodia due to the spread of the disease has increased to 60,000. These orphans face a tough life with nobody to look after them. Hunger and poverty and lack of educational facilities strive to make the problem worse in different ways.
One of the few charity organisations that are active in Cambodia are Action Aid Ireland. They have identified Cambodia’s need for help and are taking action to combat the epidemic and widespread poverty. They aim to help hundreds of children and women throughout the country. They will source a team of health care professionals to help treat and educate the population.
Donations from the public can bring many life saving changes to the people of Cambodia. For example, 8 could pay for a uniform and school materials for a child orphaned by AIDS. 15 could pay for a volunteer literacy teacher for one month to teach orphans and vulnerable children. 80 could train a woman living with HIV and AIDS to rear animals and grow crops. 350 could pay for a year’s community education on HIV and AIDS, primary health care and child rights for orphans.
Your donation will greatly help in the fight against the spread of these diseases. By providing advice, education, and health services to the women and children of Cambodia we can start reversing the shocking statistics coming out of that country.
Donate to ActionAid today and help the people struck down by this terrible disease. You can help us to end world poverty and fight this killer disease.
