Advantages of E-Governance
“A process of reform in the way Governments work, share information, engage citizens and deliver services to external and internal clients for the benefit of both government and the clients” is termed as e-Governance. E-Governance has helped governments all over the world to bridge the gap between them and the people. The availability of internet and modern technology such as SMS, MMS, Bluetooth, RFID and so on made the transition easy for the governments. This eventually resulted in the interaction between government and citizens, government and enterprises and between various departments within the government becoming fast, transparent, comfortable, efficient and economical.
An important advantage of e-governance is that the communication between the government and the people has become quicker. There is no delay in communicating important government decisions to the people. Using the internet and other technology people can now access the latest information instantly. Moreover, activities of various government departments have become swift thanks to e-governance.
E-Governance has added more visibility and transparency to the way the government and the different government agencies work. Unlike in earlier times when everything happened behind close doors, today everything is out in the open for everyone to see. The government can’t hide since each and every action of the government is well scrutinized and judged by the people.
E-governance has made the life of the people easy. Everything from filling out forms, paying bills to filing tax returns is done within the comforts of their home. No more standing in lines for hours together since everything is done online.
The functioning of governments has greatly improved with e governance since they know that any laxity or indecision on their part would not be tolerated by the people.
With e-governance both government and the people have been able to save a lot of time, effort and money. There are less paper works, files and hence less transaction costs.
Thus e Governance has been more beneficial to the people and has made their life easy and comfortable when it comes to communicating with government and its various agencies and departments.
